Recap Summer 2014

Hei hei!

First of all, I want to apologize for being absent for so long! The purpose of this blog is to share my experiences in Norway and it was a success during the first year but sadly not for the second one… but hey! I’m here to vindicate myself! I’ll give you a quick recap of my second summer spent in Norway.

I’ll start by saying that this year was simultaneously different and similar to the first year. It was different because this year was more family-oriented than the previous one, as I got to spend more time not only with my in laws but also with more of my boyfriend’s relatives: the Godtfredsens; which include my boyfriend’s maternal grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. I had a great time hanging out with them, they’re certainly great folks :) Language was still a barrier though and I couldn’t engage in as much conversation as I would like because most of them don’t speak English (or don’t do so very well) and well, needless to say, I’m not fluent in Norsk yet… Speaking of! Even though I’m not, my Norsk did get better, I can say more phrases now and stuff, I’m  happy to say I made them proud :’) I also got to hang out more with by bf’s friends, that was nice too :)

When I say it was similar to the first year, I mean that when I arrived, it felt like I had returned home. Everyone was still the same (one year older but so was I, right?), the house was still the same, etc. it gave me the feeling that no time had passed, as if I’d been gone for a week or two instead of almost a year! I was familiar with the family dynamic, their customs (most, at least), I knew how to get places in the city and such :)

Overall, I had a great summer :) I loved bonding with them Norwegians and practicing the language. Enough  talk though, time for the pics:
